Life in the dark
Deceit was created blind that’s just what happened. Unlike insanity who has no eyes, but can see everyone based on heat. Deceit was totally in the dark. His clothes weren’t just for the villain aesthetic it was functional. His Cape helped him know if someone was behind him, his shoes had metal on the bottom like tap shoes but the noise helped him focus the weight kept him grounded, and his gloves helped him from getting over stimulated with touch.
It’s never been a problem for him, Remy still baby’s him. But the sleep side did raise him from birth practically so he gets a free pass. He remembers meeting anxiety for the first time, Remy told him he wore a lot of eyeshadow like a raccoon. Deceit didn’t know what a raccoon was or looked liked but he always laughed whenever Remy made comments like that.
Somehow Deceit managed to disguise himself as Patton perfectly, and even after that was over he couldn’t wait to tell Remy. Granted now he is considered the villain who is barely tolerated. He isn’t complaining though. He is confused on why be keeps being called a snake, he knows he has scales but he had legs snakes don’t have legs.
Even with the tension Deceit was offered mostly by Patton to hang out more, and even sometimes anxiety invited him over. Roman still hated him, and Logan was more into asking questions and research then befriending him. Granted Deceit preferred the dark side better. He knew the area and didn’t bump into furniture so often.
…….
“Deceit can you help me with this?” It was Patton who called Deceit from the light side common room.
With a cautious walk Deceit made his way over. “What do you not need Patton?”
Patton made a noise of content. “Oh right Deceit can you help me pick out a color for Virgil’s gift?”
Deceit merely blinked his human eye. “Patton I’m not blind.”
Silence came from Patton before a loud yell. “OH MY GOD DECEIT I AM SO SORRY.”
Deceit scowls at the loud shout. “I would hate it if you quieted down. It’s no small deal I’ve never been like this.”
“Wait you’ve been blind the entire time?” Patton sounded shocked.
“No.” Deceit responded like it was common knowledge.
“Oh my do you need anything? Do you need me to rearrange the furniture or something? Oh my gosh I need to translate your gift into braille.” Patton was rambling now.
Deceit sighed silencing the fatherly side. “Patton I would love you babying me. Now can I not go back to napping.”
As soon as Deceit let Patton speak again he went off like a rocket. “Oh my gosh I’m so sorry I’ll treat you the same no worry, but uh who babies you if I can ask I mean if its private you don’t have to answer but I am just curious even though that’s Logan’s department.”
Deceit rubbed his temples. “It is not sleep.” The snake side decided to walk away from this conversation and find his way back to the couch.
…….
This was Deceit’s first birthday on the light side, well that wasn’t the truth he has been on the light side during his birthday just never had a celebration on the light side. Remy has already thrown him a huge party by that he made Deceit’s favorite foods and played the music that he loved. But now he was in the light side totally unfamiliar territory.
He thinks he’s sitting in the living room surrounded by wrapped gifts if the crinkling wrapper had anything to say about it. “Guys guys it’s time for liar liar to open his gifts, and as much as I don’t trust the snake birthdays are birthdays and should be respected as such.” Roman spouted off.
“Oh my God princey stop being so extra.” Virgil huffed handing Deceit a gift.
Deceit never had to unwrap a gift before. Nobody thought he needed to, and so did Deceit he was already blind. Yet he unwrapped the gift. It was a cool wooden frame with what felt like glass in place of the center. “Uh I hate it.”
“I mean you don’t have to love it it’s just a group picture of us. You don’t have to keep it.” Virgil sounded defeated.
Deceit reached for the next gift. A long rectangular box with a lid that just slid right off. Reaching inside he felt, oh his heart fluttered. “Ah a cane I absolutely hate it, my old one is in perfect condition.”
“Oh my gosh Dee I’m so glad you like it.” Patton exclaimed.
“A cane really Patton isn’t that insulting.” Logan interrupted.
Deceit tilted his head. “I totally understand your reasoning Logan. It’s totally like I’m not blind.”
“Right you aren’t… wait you’re blind.” Roman was the one to connect the dots before Logan could process what was happening.
“Oh my God I’m so sorry.” Virgil muttered.
Deceit was in a full blown laughing fit, listening to everyone’s shock. “I didn’t think you got that picture as a joke Virgil.” Deceit’s laughing fit turned to quiet giggles. “I haven’t been blind my whole existence.”
“Oh…” Logan muttered quickly gathering something next to Deceit. “Right then I need to change your gift.”
A similar shuffling was heard. “Now I feel bad snake face.” Roman sighed heart not in the insult as he quickly left with Logan following him.
“So you like my gift?” Vigril was quiet like a mouse.
“Yes I hate it. I wasn’t planning on giving it to Remy.” Deceit smiled.
Deceit could hear a happy sigh from Virgil, and, now Patton interrupted the two. “Ok well that was a interesting birthday debacle how about some cake.”
“I would hate that immensely.” Deceit purred getting up testing his nee cane.
“Yeah let’s go Patton.” Virgil added following Patton to the kitchen along with deceit.
