The new campaign shines a light on homeless women who need assistance caring for their menstrual cycles. According to the Guardian, approximately 26% of people in the U.K. who receive “homelessness services” are female. But in most shelters, “sanitary ware or any kind of period ephemera is scarce,” Vice reported earlier this year. Three women have a plan to fix that.
My school had a fundraiser for this. Man you never think of these things
Thank you all for sharing this, because it reminded me that I’ve been meaning to donate some pads/tampons to a local shelter/food pantry
Also, foodstamps does not pay for toiletries or pads or tampons, it ONLY pays for food! PLEASE DONATE TOILETRIES AND PADS TO YOUR LOCAL SHELTERS AND SUCH. They always get diaper donations but homeless people with periods really need help and can’t afford these extremely necessary things!
yknow if romeo had just Cried on juliets corpse for a couple hours instead of drinking poison Right Then they would have been Fine
The moral of the story is: always take time to cry for a few hours before making important decisions.
So I’m more or less being facetious here, but this is actually a thing.
Hamlet is genre savvy. Hamlet knows how Tragedies work, and he’s not going to rush in and get stabby without making absolutely certain he’s got all the facts.
Except once he thinks he has all the facts – once he’s certain that it really is the ghost of his father and Claudius really did kill him, he rushes in and stabs the wrong guy, which starts a domino line of deaths and gets Laertes embroiled in his own revenge tragedy and ultimately results in the deaths of nearly every character other than Horatio.
That’s the irony and the tragedy of the story. Hamlet knows his tropes and actively tries to avoid them, and the tropes get him anyway. It’s inevitable, the tropes are hungry.
I want a sticker that says the tropes are hungry so I can put it on my laptop
i met a scholar once who said that tragedies aren’t about a silly “flaw” or anything, it’s about having a hero who’s just in the wrong goddamn story
if hamlet swapped places with othello he wouldn’t be duped by any of iago’s shit, he’d sit down & have a good think & actually examine the facts before taking action. meanwhile in denmark, othello would have killed claudius before act 2 could even start. but instead nope, they’re both in situations where their greatest strengths are totally useless and now we’ve got all these bodies to bury.
The tropes are hungry and the hero is in the wrong goddamn story.
Moric is the dad at Kitty Virgil’s bakesale who is so fucking DONE with Hellen, and Karen’s shit, but Progic is the one who would call the “reinforcements” and the 6 foot 9 dragon would saunter in with Moxie’s pie and throw it down like YOU WANNA FUCKING /GO/ KAREN? I WILL FIGHT YOU IN THE BACK, BITCH, AND I’LL DO IT WITH MY EYES CLOTHES, TRY ME, BITCH!
once anvity adopts someone it’s over for you bitches
If you don’t know what this means, it’s basically then end of how the internet currently is in Europe. Memes? Nope. Youtubers? Bye!
You’d need a license for everything!!!!
And my fellow Americans my be all like, well, what’s the big deal for us? It’s a Europe deal.
No, because the Youtubers there that you love so much? This effects them too! I’m freaking out because Jack, the person who helps my depression go away, may no longer be able to do what he does!
Guys, we need to stop this somehow. Please.
Call your MEPs. Sign petitions. Protest (Peacefully please. Don’t get hurt).
I’m sorry for tagging you guys if you don’t want to be or already know, I just want as many people to know as possible!
I can’t tag everyone, but if you see this, please reblog it. Spread the news. Sign the petition. Call your MEPs. Do what you can to help stop this from passing in January.
I don’t live in Europe but this needs to be spread
I’m spreading this because this is greatly unsettling to me. I live in europe and really can’t imagine how the future would look like.
I don’t live in Europe but I signed the petition and am signal boosting for all my EU pals. Call your MEPs!
Because they still have to vote for it two more times.. maybe .. that’s why?
All you Americans who are saying “I dont live in europe, but…”
You do understand how the internet *works*, right? You *WILL* feel the backlash from this if things go through the way they are going now.
this needs to be spread. article 13 will effect the world.
If this article passes and gets reinforced by our social media and platforms they won’t separate us to “oh this is Europe they can’t do shit” and “oh it’s the rest of the world they can do whatever”… Making two different algorithms is a waste of resources.
I don’t live in Europe either, but chances are, we’ll have to live by their rules because the platforms will go by the stricter set of rules and force them on all of us. This isn’t a “Europe thing”.

able-bodied people don’t seem to realise the nuances of disability, they look at it as such a black and white issue when it’s really not. like, i don’t need a wheelchair in the sense that i can’t physically use my legs and i don’t need a walking stick in the sense that i would fall over without one. but i do need a wheelchair in the sense that it could make the difference between my being bed-bound for a day and being bed-bound for a week and i do need a walking stick in the sense that using one today might enable me to do more tomorrow. disability and chronic illness aren’t black and white; using things out of necessity can mean a lot of different things for a lot of different people.
