I felt that Adora leaving the Horde was a little rushed, but!
Maybe there was another reason it happened other than time constraints.
I have a theory that, Shadow Weaver regularly wiped Adora’s memories, as part of her “grooming” Adora.
This certainly wasn’t the first time this happened,
(Thank you Glimmer for rescuing our Dork and Savior)
Shadow Weaver was manipulative and abusive as fuck to both Adora and Catra, but we all know Catra took the brunt of it.
Maybe that’s why Adora isn’t as fucked up as Catra, she doesn’t remember SW “messing with their heads”.
Besides, SW wouldn’t want Adora to be scared of her, so she would erase Adora’s memories whenever something happens that needs Rick & Morty levels of memory fuckery. (maybe even that one time Adora and Catra saw her messed up face) Maybe that’s the reason why Adora still wanted to make SW proud by always training hard, being the perfect soldier and becoming Force Captain.
But why would Adora leave Catra? After everything they’ve been through? The bond they share and the love they have for each other. They’re supposed to be stronger than that.
The reason they didn’t understand each other was because there were blanks in their memories, especially Adora [who knows nothing (jonsnow) ] the key moments that make or break their friendship, it’s just gone. (FU! SW)
The Promise they made was what bonded them for life…or it was supposed to.
“It doesn’t matter what they do to us you know. You look out for me and I look out for you. Nothing really bad can happen as long as we have each other.”
That was Adora basically promising Catra that she would never leave her and that they’ll always be together.
But what if Adora’s memory of her promise got erased? Maybe that’s why Adora left Catra and the Horde and joined the Rebellion so quickly.
In the memory (projections?), showing the memories that they shared, both Adora and Catra were present, watching their younger selves play and train.
Sometimes even playing their own parts.
But in this memory the only one there to watch was Catra. Adora wasn’t there. (She was fighting those robo-spiders in another room I think)
“You promise?”
“I promise.”
Catra was the only one who remembers
Now look where they are now…
Look at Adora’s face. To her, this came out of nowhere because she doesn’t remember some of the things they did, the moments they had that made them lead up to this moment. The severing of their friendship!
(Now be enemies! So we can move on to the two of you becoming lovers!)
