Wait, if article 13 goes trough, does that mean that almost all the videos that already has been uploaded will be blocked from Europe as well? Even though they got uploaded before the article even existed?

Yep! Everything would be liable at that point

Article 13 is such bullshit and I’m infuriated that it’s even being considered.

Here’s a video that explains it really well if you aren’t sure what’s going on, or why our entire internet experience will change if it goes through – meaning that we won’t have content creators, millions will lose jobs, and the whole of the internet will basically turn into a horrifying Big Brother situation.

If you are in Europe, I am urging you to PLEASE contact your representatives today and every day that you can until the vote happens.

Even the CEO of YouTube has said that if this goes through massive changes will have to be made to YouTube itself due to changes in what people can upload and create, and is worried that many people will lose their source of income. Not to mention all the fandom created content we make and love here, these communities? Yeah, they’ll be gone. New companies trying to make their way via startups and compete in a free market? You can forget about it. An internet experience where you can get online and learn someone’s opinions or watch a review of a movie you’re not sure about? Gone. If Europe does this, and YouTube is forced to comply with it – all the other sites that we know and love are going to be forced to comply with it too. And I don’t know about you guys, but here in America we’re already losing Net Neutrality, I don’t want to also lose fanfiction, fanart, memes, movie reviews, critiques, original YouTuber content – I mean the list just goes on and on and on. I know it’s hard, I know it’s nerve wracking, but seriously. This is going to be voted on around the end of 2018, and the language of this law – which is already in place, by the way – is going to be finalized around that time. That language is what determines if this is a huge threat to consumers and independent creators alike, and that’s what you need to be contacting your representatives about.

TLDR: Watch the video, and if you’re in Europe, contact your representatives. Now. Because soon, it will be too late.
